I had a moment where the emotion came up while standing in front of everyone – it came completely out of the blue.
A very unexpected moment and an opportunity to practice what I preach – after all we were at a wellbeing expo hosted by Wattle Range Suicide Network.
The emotion came while I was talking about driving through where I grew up and the light, trees and landscape is beautiful. It was about a sense of home (nothing like the country hospitality to feel nurtured) being seen, cared for, belonging and connected – something that is important for our wellbeing.
I also used the fire metaphor for people to reflect on…
What lights the spark again when you are in the smoke and ashes?
What things do you need to put in place so your fire doesn’t get out of control?
Who are the people that you can be with just staring at the flames, not having to speak – just being?
just to name a few.
What a wonderful day at the Limestone Coast wellbeing expo last Friday in Millicent.
I loved seeing all the service providers, sharing some creative reflection and connecting with the community – it was brilliant returning to the country and felt like the down to earth care I received filled me up with all the good stuff. To see people doing incredible things for the communitys mental health absolutely opens my heart.
