Is it time to say goodbye?

Have you ever heard the saying ‘A season. A reason. Or a lifetime.’?

It’s deeply human to assume that the things we’re good at or enjoy will sit snuggly in the ‘lifetime’ category. Whether it’s friendships, relationships, our job, our hobbies, or even our health – when things are going well, we want them to last forever.

Perhaps that’s why it throws us off guard when we wake up to find we’ve lost our passion for the things we once loved. Or the things we’re good at have started to feel stagnant, dull, draining, and just not what we want to do anymore.

I often work with clients who have stopped feeling the passion for what they do, or have an inkling it’s time to move on, but they’ve been conditioned to think being good at something means doing it forever. They believe commitment is a life sentence!

Here’s the thing… whether you do something for a ‘season’, a ‘reason’, or a ‘lifetime’, nothing is ever wasted; the skills, knowledge, practices, and experiences you gather will always transfer in other endeavours and will inform the next steps.

It’s not always easy to change, shift, and try new things but challenging our old beliefs around commitment and forever can open us up to exciting new experiences that re-ignite a new fire in our belly.

I’m curious to know if you’ve ever moved on from something you thought would be forever – what happened next?

Here’s to a week of being well.
