Welcome to a week where we might all have a fighting chance of knowing what day it is!!
I don’t know about you, but between daylight saving coming to an end, our four-day Easter weekend, and a public holiday for ANZAC Day, the past week or two has, at times, felt like a strange time warp. Part refreshing, offering an opportunity to mix things up or have a break, and part unsettling, never being quite sure what day it is without the predictability and safety of routines.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard stories of people excited to rest, recuperate, and revive (tinged with the same sense of relief and exhaustion that is usually reserved for the arrival of Christmas). But there are also stories of people under stress and pressure to get everything done in less time.
Time is a funny beast, isn’t it?
It can fly when we’re having fun (or so the saying tells us!), it can be of the essence, precious, stand still, go too fast or too slow (depending on how old you are or what’s around the corner). There never seems to be enough of it or too much of it. We set ourselves to autopilot and let our days drift by, we relish the freedom of nothing having to take notice of it, or focus intently on making sure every second counts.
I’d love to know what your association with time is? Does it energise or deplete you? Are you worrying about things, or do you feel a sense of urgency? Maybe you need time to switch off from the world, or perhaps a change of pace has you feeling excited and refreshed?
I hope this week offers you opportunities to do the things that make you feel present and like time has passed without you knowing.
